My Verse

Isaiah 43:1

"But now, thus says the Lord, your Creator, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Isreal, "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine!"

Our Great God is for Us

I love leading worship for the elementary kids on Sunday mornings! It is such a blessing watching these kids worship, and hearing them sing at the top of their lungs! We sing a song, Our God is Greater, and it is my prayer that each one of them would know that the God who is for them, is greater than all things!

It occurred to me today, as we were singing this, and another song, that I serve a living God! Not a God made by human hands or poured from precious metals. I serve the God who created all these things, He is greater than all things in the earth, and He is greater than the whole earth!

How could He be great if he were part of this world, that is why He is above this all else! He is above all gods!

It also stands to reason that only a great God would require absolute faith in Him alone, and only a great God would save us according to His will. If I believe that my works save me or keep me safe then how can I believe that my God is greater?

Isaiah 40 is a great example of this! Verses 18-22 With whom, then, will you compare God? To what image will you liken him? As for an idol, a metalworker casts it, and a goldsmith overlays it with gold and fashions silver chains for it. A person too poor to present such an offering selects wood that will not rot; they look for a skilled worker to set up an idol that will not topple.
Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood since the earth was founded? He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.

Our God is greater
Our God is stronger
God You are higher than any other
Our God is healer
Awesome in power
Our God, Our God

And if our God is for us, then who could ever stop us,
And if our God is with us, then what can stand against?

5 Loaves and 2 Fish

Matthew 14:16-17
Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat. "We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered.

@JohnPiper: When I feel empty and unable to give any more, few things encourage me more than the words, "Five loaves and two fish."

I am learning that God is not limited by what I do not have. I am so quick to think that people should go somewhere else to be fed, but God desires that we allow Him to us.

I'm reminded of the servant with just one talent, afraid to do anything with what God had given him. But he says that he knows the master to reap where he did not sow.

God use my 5 loaves and 2 fish. Thank you for blessing me with even that. I pray that I will not be afraid, or allow what I see as meager, to keep me from giving it away for You! Let all of me, my whole life bring you glory, and point others to You!

Shine like stars

Philippians 2:15b-16a
Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life.

Genesis 1:15
And let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth." And it was so.

The purpose of us shining like stars is not for our glory, but to be a light on earth, but not shining our light, but the true light that comes from the word of life.

Just before Paul says to shine like stars, he also says, "Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation". We like stars have to stand out from darkness around us, instead of blending in.
